Recovery continues for Tracy Morgan, victim of truck accident

While it is true that an accident can happen in the blink of an eye, the recovery process after a crash typically lasts much longer. Victims of an accident can experience physical and emotional trauma can linger on years after an crash, and in some cases, injuries can be permanent or fatal.

We read about accidents and injured victims just about every day; however, we don't often read about the demanding recovery process that they must endure. Unless we are actually the victims, it can be difficult to understand just how extensive this process can be. But the publicity surrounding a recent truck accident involving comedian and actor Tracy Morgan has effectively served as a brutal reminder of how serious recovering from a crash can be.

Morgan was critically injured when the limousine van he was riding in was struck by a commercial truck. A friend of his, who was also in the van, was killed in the catastrophic accident. According to reports, the truck accident is believed to have been caused by a trucker who was in violation of the Hours of Service regulations with which commercial drivers must comply, and he has since been charged with assault by auto as well as death by auto.

Sources have recently issued an update on Morgan's status. He suffered multiple broken bones in the crash, and is still fighting to recover. He spent multiple weeks in a rehabilitation center, but is now back at home two months after the accident.

Like other victims of serious truck accidents, Morgan's injuries were critical and his recovery has been painful and gradual. In addition to physical injuries, it is also common for people in Morgan's situation to suffer emotional and psychological injuries when a loved one is killed in a crash, which can make recovery even more difficult. In an attempt to collect compensation to cover lost wages, medical care and other expenses, many injured victims of a truck crash choose to file a lawsuit against a potentially negligent party, which is also something Morgan has done.
