Memorial Day weekend accidents increase significantly in Georgia

While many people were relaxing and enjoying the long holiday weekend, those who were on the roads across Georgia may have had a much more upsetting Memorial Day. According to recent reports, there were 17 people killed in motor vehicle accidents this past weekend. Sadly, this is a dramatic increase in the number of fatalities that occurred last year during the same time when six people were killed.

Report: Medical mistakes third highest cause of death

There have been numerous studies conducted recently to try and understand how serious of a problem medical errors are in hospitals across the country. Some estimates suggest that as many 440,000 people die every year due to a preventable error, while others estimate that number is closer to 100,000. The exact number of fatalities linked to a medical mistake is difficult to confirm, but researchers generally agree that it is a very serious problem.

Possible trucking violations that can contribute to crashes

Any motor vehicle accident has the potential to cause serious damage and injuries for victims. However, these crashes can be much more severe and complicated when one of the vehicles involved is a commercial-sized truck. Due to the size of these vehicles, they take longer to stop and can easily crush smaller vehicles upon impact.

Woman killed in accident while updating Facebook status

It was just seven words that were supposed to show others that a young driver was feeling happy one morning: "The Happy Song makes me so HAPPY." However, typing out those words and posting them as her Facebook status meant that the 32-year-old woman was not focused on the road. In the time it took to send that message, the woman's car crossed over the center line and crashed into a recycling truck. The woman died in the accident.
