Thanksgiving weekend turns tragic for three Atlanta families

Losing a family member in a car crash can be devastating. These senseless accidents often leave people feeling very upset, helpless, confused and angry. Sadly, too many people are killed in crashes in and around Atlanta because of the actions of others. While there is nothing that can bring back a loved one, there are ways for family members to take action in order to find some closure and a sense of justice.

One option that family members have in the wake of a fatal accident is to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the negligent party or parties who contributed to the loss. Taking this step can result in financial support for those left behind and serve as a way to hold the responsible party accountable. Three Georgia families may be considering this option after their loved ones were killed in two separate fatal accidents this past weekend.

The first accident involved a reckless driver who crashed into a 35-year-old male pedestrian who was out walking just after midnight. Not only did the driver fatally injure the victim, she also allegedly fled from the scene. Police later arrested a woman who they believe was involved in the accident.

The second accident happened just hours later at about 2:30 a.m. A 57-year-old man was reportedly driving a Chevrolet Suburban on the wrong side of the road when his vehicle crashed head-on into a BMW driven by a 25-year-old man. Both of the men were killed.

Authorities are investigating the details of these tragic accidents. It is likely that they will determine if speed, impairment, fatigue, faulty car parts or other factors contributed to the crashes. Depending on the results of the investigation, it may be possible for the families of the victims to pursue a civil claim against the negligent or reckless party.
