Georgia car accident leaves two people dead

On Behalf of | Sep 5, 2013 | Wrongful Death |

A PT Cruiser was hit by a tractor-trailer in Georgia around 11 p.m. when it was attempting to make a turn onto Satellite Boulevard at Shawnee Industrial Way. The accident happened on Wednesday, Aug. 28.

After the tractor-trailer hit the PT Cruiser, it went off the road and into the line of woods where it began leaking fuel. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured in the incident. However, the driver and front-seat passenger of the PT Cruiser both died as a result of the accident. The backseat passenger of the Cruiser suffered from serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. No charges were filed in connection with the accident so far, but the families of the people who died in the accident could decide to file wrongful death lawsuits against the driver of the tractor-trailer.

The families of the deceased people may have suffered psychological pain and trauma because of the unexpected loss of their loved ones. They might be able to request compensation for their pain and suffering in a wrongful death lawsuit. Additionally, their loved ones that died might have been primary providers for their families. If they were, they might be able to seek compensation for their loved one’s lost earning power.

Their deceased loved one might also have outstanding medical bills that need to be taken care of as well as funeral expenses. The families could request reimbursement for such expenses in their lawsuits, if they choose to file. Personal injury lawyers might be able to help families determine whether or not they have sufficient reason to file wrongful death claims, and if they do, they might help them come up with settlement terms with the plaintiffs.
