It never fails that professional sports stars find themselves in the news during the offseason making highlight reels for the complete wrong reasons. Recently, one of the Tennessee Titans players, tight end Brandon Barden, found himself on the wrong end of a drunken driving report.
Barden just finished his rookie campaign for the Titans and the Vanderbilt product provided depth at both tight end and special teams. He spent much of the season on the practice squad team, but has managed to find himself some spotlight off the field anyways.
Deputies at the scene say that when they spoke with Barden, he smelled strongly like he had been drinking prior to getting behind the wheel, and he refused to take a sobriety test. He continued to refuse to take the sobriety test, even after being taken to the sheriff's office.
According to reports, the Titan tight end lost control of his truck and flipped onto its side as it landed in a ditch in Lincolnton. The player's truck was also carrying two other passengers when the incident occurred and reports do not indicate whether or not they were injured. Meanwhile, Barden was charged with a DUI and failure to maintain lane for the Feb. 23 accident.
