Georgia man faces charges after friend's fatal motorcycle crash

A months-long investigation ended in vehicular homicide charges for a man whom police say caused an accident that took the life of his best friend. The man is facing charges of following too closely and second-degree vehicular homicide.

According to police, the motorcycle accident occurred on westbound Interstate 285 close to the Conley Road overpass. The man was following too close, and his motorcycle hit the back of another car. The car hit a concrete median barrier and flipped over onto the man's best friend who was riding another motorcycle.

The man's attorney argued that he is not guilty of his friend's death. He maintains that the car cut in front of the man causing his friend to lose control and crash. The attorney posits that no one may be to blame for this was accident.

Family members who have lost a loved one in a motorcycle accident may be facing unexpected financial burdens in the aftermath. There may be funeral expenses, medical bills and other costs. Family members have the option to file a wrongful death lawsuit to seek compensation for their loss.

In some situations, like the one in this story, it may not be clear who is at fault. Even if no one is convicted of any wrongdoing in the accident, it may still be possible to collect damages. A personal injury attorney may be able to offer guidance and assistance to family members who wish to pursue a wrongful death claim. An experienced attorney may comb through the accident report to find all possible responsible parties in order to obtain the maximum possible award amount.
