Man will likely be charged following accident

A Georgia man is expected to be charged with vehicular homicide more than two months after being involved in an accident. The car accident resulted in the death of a 70-year-old man. The state is in the process of determining whether to charge the man who caused the accident with felony vehicular homicide or a misdemeanor.

The case is still under investigation. Once the investigation is complete, the accident reconstruction team will meet with the district attorney to decide what charges will apply. The criteria upon which the determination of felony versus misdemeanor homicide is based take four factors into account: driver intoxication, fleeing or attempting to flee from law enforcement, involvement of a school bus, and driver intoxication. The state patrol is currently further investigating the driver's speed to determine whether it played a role in the fatal crash.

The driver's Dodge Ram reportedly rear-ended a pickup truck that was pulling a horse trailer as the pickup prepared to make a left turn. The driver's Dodge Ram then crossed the center line at hit a Mercedes, which was being driven by the victim who died as a result of his injuries. The driver of the Ram has received several traffic violations in the past, including violations for speeding. His two children were in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Being injured or losing a loved one in a car accident can be difficult. A lawyer who specializes in personal injury cases may possibly be of assistance to victims and their families. Personal injury lawyer who is experienced with car accidents can possibly identify opportunities to seek legal remedy if the accident resulted from another driver's reckless behavior.
