Attorney Richard Mitchell
Richard Mitchell received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia in 1978 with highest distinction and Phi Beta Kappa membership, and graduated from Stanford Law School in 1981. Richard has been chairman of the Aviation Section of the State Bar of Georgia and is a member of the Litigation and Products Liability Sections. He has written and lectured on a variety of litigation-related topics. Prior to commencing private practice, Richard Mitchell clerked for the Honorable Newell Edenfield and the Honorable Orinda D. Evans, both of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. He then spent more than 14 years at the law firm of Powell, Goldstein, Frazer & Murphy in Atlanta, Georgia. Attorney Kenneth Shapiro
Kenneth Shapiro graduated from Duke University in 1978, magna cum laude, with a degree in accounting, and from Emory University School of Law in 1981, where he was the Notes and Comments editor of the Emory Law Journal. Ken is a member of the UCC and Creditor Rights Committees of the State Bar of Georgia and the bankruptcy section of the Atlanta Bar Association. He has also spoken on numerous creditors’ rights and bankruptcy topics. Prior to forming his own firm, Ken practiced at the law firms of Powell, Goldstein, Frazer & Murphy; Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker; and Altman, Kritzer & Levick. Together, attorneys Kenneth Shapiro and Richard Mitchell handle cases involving medical malpractice, personal injury, commercial litigation, and business and commercial law.

Attorney William Joiner
William Joiner, an associate at Mitchell & Shapiro, was born in Atlanta in 1970. He graduated with a B.A. from Vanderbilt University in 1993 and received his J.D. from Georgia State University in 2000. Mr. Joiner was admitted to the Georgia bar in 2000. He was a member of the Georgia State University Law Review.
Attorney Patrick O’Connor
Patrick O’Connor is an associate at Mitchell & Shapiro. He was born in Marysville, California in 1967. Mr. O’Connor earned a B.S. from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1990 and an M.A. in 1993. He received his J.D. from Georgia State University in 1999 and passed the Georgia bar exam the same year. Mr. O’Connor was a member of the Georgia State University Law Review. He clerked for the Honorable Michael Stoddard of the Cobb County Superior Court from 1999 to 2001. Mr. O’Connor practices civil, commercial, and business litigation as well as arbitration, mediation, and public contract law.
Attorney Kathryn Shapiro
Kathryn Shapiro is of counsel to Mitchell & Shapiro. She was born in Anderson, South Carolina in 1955. She received a B.A. from University of Georgia in 1977, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Ms. Shapiro earned her J.D. from the University of Virginia in 1980, where she was a member of the Virginia Law Review. She was admitted to the Georgia bar in 1980.
